Packing boxes properly

Place about two inches of crushed paper in the bottom of your boxes to cushion and help protect your items. Having strong boxes that are taped up sufficiently and that aren’t packed with too much weight is important as well. Don’t Overpack your boxes. The general rule of thumb is that each box should not weigh more than 50 pounds. Even if you do decide to hire movers, remember that you may have to move the boxes yourself, from one room to another before the movers arrive.

Purchase an adequate amount of moving blankets

One of the best ways to fully protect your furniture during a move is to purchase or rent plenty of moving blankets. It’s important to err on the side of caution and uses extra moving blankets. We tell our clients that this is the number one way to prevent damaged items.
